ORTHOPEDIC PHYSICAL THERAPIST & REHABILITATION STAFF

Bone and Joint Specialists, Orthopedic Physical Therapists, are compassionate, supportive, and will encourage you to reach your rehabilitation and training goals. Communicating directly with your orthopedic doctor, our physical therapists will instruct you to improve your muscle movements, strength, coordination, endurance, and function to get you back to your active lifestyle. Each Patient receives a customized rehabilitation program tailored to their individual needs.

The licensed orthopedic physical therapists at Bone and Joint Specialists have specialized training in muscle facilitation techniques, including muscle stimulation and TENS Unit Training and expertise in bracing and casting to help bones and ligaments heal. For patients suffering from injuries or disease, our orthopedic physical therapist will facilitate techniques that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities.

What do Physical Therapists do?

Orthopedic Physical Therapists will examine patients’ medical histories, test and measure the patients’ strength, range of motion, balance and coordination, posture, muscle performance and motor function, and determine a patients’ ability to be independent and reintegrate into their normal routine. Next, they will develop an individualized treatment plan for each patient with an orthopedic surgeon that describes the treatment strategy, its purpose, and its anticipated outcome.

In addition to using electrical stimulation, hot packs or cold compresses, and ultrasound to relieve pain and reduce swelling, some physical therapists may use traction or deep-tissue massage to relieve pain. Physical Therapists also teach patients exercises to do at home to expedite their recovery.
